John Lithgow makes an appearance in this season, that will be quite interesting!

From Wikipedia:

Season 4
Season 4 premieres September 27, 2009. John Lithgow has been confirmed to join the cast of Dexter for season 4. Lithgow will play Walter Simmons, an unassuming, mild-mannered suburbanite who has been living a dual life as one of America's most prolific and deadliest serial killers.

Dubbed the "Trinity Killer" because of his proclivity to kill in threes, he relocates to Miami after being tracked by F.B.I. Special Agent Frank Lundy (Keith Carradine). Brought on to assist in the investigation of Miami's latest serial killer, Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) becomes fascinated with "Trinity's" unique killing methods and his ability to evade capture for almost three decades.

Lundie's back!!!!!!!!!!!! SUUUUUPER COP! (or was it wonder cop? LOL)
Wonder how Debra will take that?
Interesting plot....

Like I said, this show goes from strength to strength, which is rare (imo) in tv series these days, especially since tv has been goin for so long, it MUST be hard to come up with continually better screenplays like this.

DEXTER FOR PRESIDENT! (after Obama of course!)
Or maybe just Govenor of Miami... Hell if Arnie can make it in Californian politics!

But Sept 27 2009... in the US... will still take, what, 3 months (12 Eps) after that for it to hit the net... unless someone releases it episode by episode. The S3 I got was from Showtime (in the US), you can see the watermark in the lower right corner. Will definitely search for it Oct 1 though!

It'll be up to download (ep by ep) the day after it airs. I'm gonna wait until the entire season has aired, and then download the whole thing. I'd rather binge watch the entire season in 2 days then wait a whole week for another episode.

And yes, LUNDY COMING BACK FTWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

I thought it was Lundy with a Y, but you I (wrongly) thought you had spelled it with an ie and I figured that as you got it from wiki... anyway...

Yeah, Id rather binge watch it to...
Actually knocked of S3 in a single session (until about 5am), I just couldnt make myself stop! Only to eat and pee! [pause]

They might need to start a 'Dexter Detox Centre' for inbetween seasons!

I binge watched the entire second season in a little over a day, and did the same with season 3 :)

the books are awful?

apparently the third season didn't have much to do with the books either - and it was the best season, if thats any indication

Yep the third season didn't follow the book at all - thankfully.

The show is a mish mash of the books, with new ideas.

In the series, Miguel Prado becomes a killer - where as in the books, Dexter takes Astor and Cody under his wings.

The skinner is in the first book, as a different name. Totally different.

Dexter kills La Guerda (sp?) as well, which obviously didn't happen.

They basically took a brilliant idea, took the parts that made it better, and then worked on that even more.

There are many many better books out there. The success of Dexter (the show) is the translation they used, making the basic idea, using the themes that would work on TV, and adding so much more. The brilliant cast is what makes the show.

Add to that the slowed down snippets reserved for Dexter's thoughts, the quick witted remarks, the beautifully shot Miami backdrop - and you have one of the best produced TV shows ever.
