I'm making the assumption that there would probably be different limits for each event type. This method might allow you to not have to adjust it any time soon.

This is obv a perfect system for points/leaderboard. This way, everything is fair and predertermined. Everyone will know what big events to play, everyone has the same chance of winning, because the same reward system is awarded.

It will of course, never work. Capping numbers for live games is dumb (would have to cap at like 50, and most places won't even hit 40). So where do you draw the line?

you don't cap runners, just the amount of points that they can earn

but having caps just means that you are heading down the line to a fixed point system. which is bad bad bad

Garth Kay wrote:So if we use multipliers for these events:

Online Freeroll = 1x multiplier
Online Cash Games = 3x Mutliplier
In Venue Cash Games = 3 x Multiplier
In Venue Freeroll = 2 X multiplier

Thoughts on this system?

So if I understand correctly a person who finishes first in a 200 runner online freeroll will get the same amount of points as a person who finished first in an in venue game with 60 runners?

1st Place @ 60 runners = 100*3 +10

Seems a little unfair to me that someone who has beat 200 players will get as much as someone who has beat only 60.

I spoke to a maths buddy of mine and he suggested a system like so:
1st - 100 points
2nd - 80 points
3rd - 60 points
4th - 50 points
5th - 45 points
6th - 40 points
7th - 35 points
etc

Then add on a bonus for the number of players based on multipliers.

Where multiplier is calculated using the following linear equation where X is number of players:

Multiplier = -.001X + 1.3

Example
150 runner
Multiplier = -.001 * 150 + 1.3 = 1.15

1st = 100 + 150 * 1.5 = 225
2nd = 80 + 150 * 1.5 = 205 and so on
