And best of luck in the Vic Championships!
I had put aside some money to play some of the smaller buyin events and a satellite (or 2) into the ME. Not the rebuy Sats, except the free Mega Sat. But I cant make it this year as my accomodation fell through
Not that I had big expectations, mainly to play some quality opponents and learn.
Will you possibly be able to post a daily summary of how you are doin?
Ever thought about selling shares?
I don't sell shares, I have no real need to.
I was contemplating doing it for the forum guys but I would only be willing to sell up to 25% of my action.
I actually plan on taking notes this time as long as it doesn't affect my concentration and game and then posting nightly with results and hand histories.

muzzington wrote:Yeah, that was a pretty great run Garth. You didn't just win a couple, you had an overwhelming Jamie Gold stack in them.
You get to a FT/Bubble of those micro tournaments and you can just steam roll everyone.
Not many guys at those limits have an understanding of fold equity, pot odds or even basic odds. And generally they really tighten up when they have 8BB stacks.

LOL, hi there Garth. Sorry for that little indescretion of mine what was I thinking?? I was asking what ME meant in Trishans post on here and got caught up with my additional queries re; thread and post.
Had I known you were on I would have addressed the question to you. But let's face it, it would seem a little stupid waiting for a reply if you weren't available!
So, I left it as an open question and received an open reply to all my questions.
I do enjoy reading the questions and answers on the forum and find it as a great learning curve.

Re: Ask Garth!
Hi Garth,
As it looks like no one has asked you a question for quite a while, I thought I would give it a go. My apologies if it has been discussed in a different thread.
With all the different websites, forums, podcasts, RSS feeds etc etc available to us, is there one or two sources (or more) that you recommend as the most useful & informative as far as reading up on advice & tips?
Do you think that subscribing to multiple sites/forums could be damaging to people in the way of information overload or even conflicting advice? Are there sites that you recommend keeping well away from?
Or alternatively, is there a book that has been published that in your eyes covers everything that you need to know & if so, can this book replace all the above as something we can refer back to regularly?
A lot of questions I know but I look forward to reading your thoughts.
Troy.

IMO, 2 plus 2 and their forums have good strategy advice, and it is always evolving as well.
Books can only give you a basic understanding, they can go into deep complex thoughts, but without being able to ask someone about it, you will still scratch your head until you get the "come to god" moment. Very similar to uni textbooks, journals are better for research as the information is always up to date, uni textbooks are out of date even if you buy them brand new.
Forums to avoid, Neverwinpoker.com Unless you want to read about all the sick degen stuff poker players get up to.
Sites to visit if you have the time and money, cardrunners, stoxpoker (leatherass's quest for supernova journals are interesting, so are a few other blogs), leggo poker - haven't been, there are a few others that i can't remember
Sites to avoid, even being an aussie based site, cardacademy hasn't had much added to it recently when most of the founding members have gone off for other pursuits.
My 2c
Brett.

Re: Ask Garth!
im not garth, but...
when you say book, what are you lookign for? a general beginners holdem book, a cash game, tourney, limit, etc.
lots of different books out there, all at different levels.
as far as forums go, take a look at twoplustwo. excellent on strategy advice, and well just about anything poker related. you will find whole threads dedicated to reviews of different books as well.
edit: brett covered it
