There are some situations where I'd rather triple up a short stack than give the pot to someone else.
A super tight chip leader with a loose playing all in for example.
It would be easier to get the money off the loose now mid stack later in the tournament than to pry it out of the chip leader.

your tournament equity increases every time you knock someone out - you should rarely be betting into the side pot without the goods.
lets say the chip leader has 20K, you have 10K and short stack has 1K.
if you triple up the short stack to 3k, he is now able to make a big dent in your stack. but the chip leader going from 20K to 23K doesn't really change the situation for you

See, you put thought into why you are betting... I'd accept that. I may not agree, but I can understand your logic. It wasn't just a "I can bluff here" bet.
Back on topic, I don't think I'd be folding here, but then I wouldn't be leading out on that flop. I'm too tight for that.

you are probably right, i would put the pressure on him if i had any sort of diamond draw here.

you wouldn't lead with bottom set? in this case, i am willing to pay off a flopped flush (i have redraw outs to the house anyway), but i want flush draws to pay as much as possible for the privilege to see a turn card.
a pot bet on the flop is usually a bit of an overbet for me, but i wanted to put pressure on trishan to get his whole stack.

It's how your brother knocked me out of the forum freeroll
I know that's a problem with my game. I have a good hand on a 3 suit board, how do I play those the 'right' way??
Your move Ben would've made me sweat, I guess I need to play a hand in reverse more often.

Re: AQs - Are you folding this?
lets go for some maths again (i hope i am right)
52 cards in the deck, you have 2 of them, there are 3 out there. so 47 cards left in the deck.
3 diamonds on board, so there are 10 diamonds left in that stub of 47.
the probability that he has diamonds in this situation is P = 1 - (probability he doesn't have diamonds)
= (1- 37/47) * (1- 38/46) = 3.8% chance that someone has flopped a flush against you
probability that they have at least 1 diamond = 38.7%

What puts me on tilt also is people betting into a dry pot having not hit anything... What's the point????????
Here's an example I saw the other night.....
3 players in the hand, one all-in preflop for not a huge amount relative to the other 2 players stack sizes and obviously the other 2 had called.
Dry side pot.
The 2 live players checked the flop.
The turn presented a good draw situation for someone so one of the live players made a reasonable bet and the other live player thought about it and folded.
The player who folded was indeed on a draw and the player who bet into the dry side had a reasonable made hand and obviously didn't want to give somebody a free card which might complete a draw and thus make their hand useless.
If you can explain to me how that's not a good reason to bet into a dry side pot then I will give up poker.
More to the point, NOT doing it "just because it's dry" makes you a sheep and is not the reason it can sometimes/usually be frowned upon.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!
