Just wondering if 888PL are going ahead with this tourny at all at the next version of the state finals?
If 888pl aren't going ahead with what is the reasoning behind the decision?
been hearing from a number of people at different venues that it isn't going ahead this season, which would be a shame...

Re: Final Table Tournament?
yeah havent heard anything about this either. in the past they have also run these tournaments (especially regionally based ones) at the mid-point of each season. I hope we see more of these type of events as they normally have bigger numbers attached to them, better structures and of course doolahs up for grabs.
any info would be good?

Re: Final Table Tournament?
yes, the mid year thingy...
at the mid way point I think I would've qualified for the main event, being 4th at the Brighton Metro Venue, If I happen too miss out on this tournament because 888pl have scrapped this midseason qualification format, I'll be seriously thinking about not playing 888pl at all any more, as I feel their wouldn't be much incentive in playing 888pl poker.

Re: Final Table Tournament?
shadz, are you getting confused?
the main event is at the end of the season, you need to be top 5 for that.
the FTT tournaments used to run mid season, and you needed 3 final table tokens to qualify.
i am not sure what your 4th place at the brighton metro has to do with the FTT tournament (other than you might have grabbed 3 FTTs along the way)
can you please explain.

Hey Shadz, I play the Brighton Metro to, and think I know who you are...
Final Table Token (FTT) tourneys were separate from the, what used to be called State Finals, but is now the 'Foundation Semi Final' - Still 25K despite the name change.
Anyway, Caleb told me last Fri on the FT (I specifically asked) that the 888PL aren't running the FTT tourneys atm, but that this might change. Of course the Semi Final 25K games are still on, but this is season 1 of the new 888PL and the seasons are now longer....
I agree, I like the FTT tourneys to (came 5th + 2 bounties last one I played), but I just think the 888PL is changing alot of things right now... Things will settle down over time...
But surely you play the 888PL away games for more than just the possibility of qualifying for FTT tourneys or bigger?

Talk to the addicts who have game and/or care enough to improve: and there are a few of us that fall into this category at the Metro, cant comment on the venues I dont play, but would suspect there are atleast a few at each...
Sure, the possibility of qualifying for bigger touneys, but to me thats secondary...

must be confused then with FTT's and the Main event... thought their was a big tourny at held at the Flagstaff, that must've been the halfway FTT.

I do agree with bottom part, I do like the social aspect of playing poker in Pubs, but It would be nice too get something more back for the money you spend playing in these venues than just being able too qualify for the Main Event.
Maybe 888pl could enforce the bigger venues (ones that regulary have 50,60+ runners each game) too hold their own Final, with bigger prize money (not vouchers) up for grabs in them, and that would keep the people who play week in week out that miss out on the Main Event happy and therefore keep playing 888pl.

We are not in the position to enforce any venue to increase their prizes. If a venue chooses to do so, that's fantastic. But just because a venue has a higher average of runners than another venue is no reason to ask them to essentially pay more with no guarantees of revenue increase. (Looking at it from a venue's point of view)
We can absolutely suggest and promote these ideas (several of my venues hold season finals now and/or cash prizes, i'll refrain from mentioning names to prevent a thread hijack) but we as a company employed for our services are in no position to ENFORCE anything like that.
These venues with the venue finals/cash prizes are open to everyone. If that's want you to play, you are more than welcome to come down and have a game.

The Flagstaff was indeed an FTT. The last 2 main events have been at the Port Club, the one prior to that at PGCC.
