Re: HUD Configurations
That's true benny the cunt, I turn mine off most of the time and only bring it back up if I want a snapshot of a particular thing, and that's usually only to confirm/deny my thoughts on a player.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Re: HUD Configurations
This is probably silly, but I don't use a poker tracker. I play online as I would live - in that I try and gather information about how someone plays by looking and remembering, and then hopefully using that later.
Again, probably silly. But I find it more of a test, and more fun.

interesting approach to online games David,
'Horses for Courses'
Some like the statistical approach ie percentages +/- EV , ratios etc and are very results orientated,
Others play the personalities/and enjoy the sociality of Poker a bit like playing Golf I suppose.
You can play it to improve your own personal game, perhaps win some monies, you can enjoy the players/venues and their associated routines and travel the world.
A few/ others earn big monies as Pros on the World Curcuits/Tours and enjoy their lifestyles.
so hows your Handicap and do you think Tiger is in a slump ???

This is a very good approach, especially if you tend more to live poker, but also programs like PT, HEM and Prospector have very many uses while not playing, to analyze your game from many different angles...
I have only recently began using a HUD because I have recently started playing enough tables simultaneously that they almost become neccesary to be successful. And as Pete says, you can always just turn them on momentarilty to confirm a conclusion you had come to about a player.
Or use PT/HEM and never use the HUD...
@Bruce:
You mention two types of players, lets call them A and B.
What about a third type: A x B ???
or A + playing the player?
2 is somewhat limiting...
Im sure there are plenty of recreational golf players (I know atleast one) who still paid to have his swing analyzed by video so as to improve his game...

Re: HUD Configurations
Yeah, I understand that part, recording for later etc.
I guess I'm more talking about the in-game methodology.
If I'm not good enough to remember how someone has played, then I don't deserve to use that information.
Maybe I'm being harsh on myself - but I don't want to get lazy.

Re: HUD Configurations
I used to use one years and years ago, but don't know what happened to it.
I'm a cheap bastard so if you have some links to something that free or has a trial period, send 'em on through. I'm more than happy to give a couple a go and see what all the hub bub is about.
But if you have links that would be great, normally I'd look these things up myself, but it's monday and I had a hard weekend and quite frankly I don't want to right now 'cause I'm lazy.
Send links, over.

Re: HUD Configurations
This topic is great for learning how to get all you can from PokerTracker.
I gave PT a shot, for the 60 day trial. I am yet to analyse whether it was helpful or detrimental to my game, but I do prefer playing without a HUD.
