I witnessed the same thing last night, this one guy was heads up had 8k, the TD raced 3k each off each player the one with 8k lost and was left with 5k, the blinds were 10&20 putting him all in at sb either way but with the chance to only win 5k opposed to 10k if he had been chipped up.
What a rediculous set up, you lose money heads up on a high card with out getting the opportunity to even have a bet of fold, this kind of rule inclusion only leads to the game taking backward steps not forward.

the million dollar question is....
do you have a better idea or are you just whining?

Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

And yet this occurs in every major tournament world wide and at every small buy in tournament at casinos worldwide.

Re: Chip Ups & Final Table
how often would they chip up at something like the aussie millions?
judging by poker on tv, they always seem to have lots and lots of chips in front of them. i suppose they would have to keep the ante chip amount on the table, not just the amount needed to post blinds

Every time a small denomination chip is no longer required, chip outs are performed then a chip race is conducted for odd chips.

Wouldn't the bloke have been blinded All-In even if his stack had remained un changed?
At the end of the day, prior to the tournament starting (and throughout I guess), the same rule(s) apply to every individual, sometimes the luck of the draw is with you and sometimes it isn't IMHO.

In regards to your backwards step comment, this is how its actualy done, everywhere at every casino at every tournament around the world. If it were a step back, the step was taken years ago, and since, poker has grown exponetionaly.
