I'm sorry to say I was a witness to the chat box incident today and felt it lacked anythying other than direct abuse at all and sundry. I actually know the person in question and have played many live tournaments with him when I played at Parafield Gardens.

I too had a verbal run in with the same person a few weeks back and after identifying myself and knowing who he was etc, the coversations became more acceptable.

He's actually a very nice boy and plays a fairly aggressive live game too, but usually minus the abuse.

I tried to settle him down again today but to no avail. Maybe he sees the online games as a way of venting his anger I don't know but it wasn't necessary.

PS how do you copy paste on PP I've tried and no joy???

I think what we are trying to say is this... whinging on a forum will only get you so far... if you are seriously upset then you have to actually contact someone privately with some authority and put forward a formal complaint with logs, screen caps etc.

I think outting someone on a public forum is a negative move, because if they see it then they know it's getting to you and will do it more often. Also other players will know it affects you and will try the same tactic.

okey dokey,
wowsers, guess i'm gonna have to do something here, so as of next week i'll be monitoring as many games as possible, and as may tables as i can, 2 warnings will be giving to any verbally abusive player, and then suspended on the the 3rd.

Suspension will lead to loss of points on all scoreboards.

So I'm only Gonna say this only Once People

"BEHAVE"
I see only what I wanna see
I'll be only what I wanna be
My blanket covers me...

No you won't be Dakota.

We are in the process of organising some disciplinary measures in conjunction with 888 for 888PL Home Game Players, currently there is very little we can do online but we can suspend players from 888PL and the accompanying finals and prizes but we do not have much control over the players on 888.

In the meantime I suggest that if a player is abusing you or making inappropriate comments then you take a screenshot or copy and paste chat box and send an email to techsupport@888pl.com.au. Please ensure that you mention which tournament this occurred and your table number.

If you do not wish to take these steps then I suggest that you use the disable chat function for that particular player.

I would also like to add that if you do have a problem with any particular player then please feel free to notify management anonymously; do not come onto a public forum to accuse any particular player of inappropriate behaviour.

Awwww man, I was really hoping Dakota would be "The Internet Monitor"!
The whole world has turned nuts.
It amazes me that some asshat (pardon my French) can abuse you online until you identify yourself, then all of a sudden they are all peachy.
If I had my way, that clown would have his shoelaces tied together.
That's probably one real cool idea about this 888/NPL marriage, all of a sudden the online bullys don't have a virtual "face" to hide behind. People will know who you are and you will be found out, and the size of your grapfruits can be tested in person.

I think Harry Potter said it best:

*sigh*

so saying a person did something is attacking them? Calling someone to task about their wrong doing is speaking to them in a derogatory manner?

*sigh*

This is a time when I need to fold I think... there's no getting around that great thunking....

Just a quick response because it involves me. That guy "mindaraisin" did go over the top and I think he is the first person to talk to me or anyone like that. He really took the abuse to a new level. I said that I would report him and it didn't seem to deter him as he continued for some time.

Personally I don't let abuse like that affect me but I can see how someone else perhaps a little older than me or maybe even of the opposite sex might get really hurt.

Anyway I am sure that there is a whole lot of information about what constitutes abuse in the "Rules & Etuquette" guide but you have to make it clear and simple what is and isn't considered abuse.

Which of these if not all are abuse:

"That was don.key move."
"How can you play that?"
"Only a donke.y plays 5 2 off"
"Worst play E.V.E.R."
etc. (Borderline abusive)

"Moron"
"Idiot"
"Spastic"
etc. (clearly abusive)

"Donkeys should be banned"
"I hate donke.ys"

Where do you draw the line?
