Freeroll vs buyin

Postby choco » Thu Aug 27, 2009 2:51 pm

Has anyone noticed that there is a huge difference in the quality of poker between freeroll and buy in. With all the cowboys playing freerolls now it is almost impossible to bet people off a hand. It also seems that any two cards are playable. Maybe its time to have some games with a larger buy in that will attract good players. It probably just sounds like im having a whinge but i have been playing on a regular basis for quite a while and the regulars i have played with from day one also are frustrated.

Actually no. People still call your 5x BB raise UTG with J5, cos it's their favourite hand.

Bigger buy-ins = richer idiots.

whinge maybe, but valid whinge in my opinion.

hence the reason that 888pl is moving towards cash buyin games these days.

i think the player base is now at a point where there are fewer real newbies, and there are lots of people that are looking for new challenges. cash buyin games are definitely the way forward i think, particularly in the online league.

your not the only one frustrated on this issue, it gets worse when your on the final table of an online freeroll, and these 'cowboys as u put it' call 20k+ all in bets, after flopping a flush because they have Ace Rag, and hit runner, runner to make full houses!

This is exactly the reason why when I feel like a game next season I'll be playing a cashy.

Also getting sick and tired of players who go all in from the 1st hand because "they don't care cause it's freeroll" mentality,
