Everything I learnt I got from a Doyle Brunson Super System book.

The DVD was given away free at pub events for those who got second (first got a trophy).
Please note that I am NOT the World Champ, Australian Champ, SA champ or even the Adelaide Hills champ so any advice I give must be taken with tonne of salt :P

Just an Idea!

What sort of stuff?

I am actually in the process of organising some gear for retail so you better create a wish list right now.

But be prepared to pay well over the odds for any books or training material.

Read em and Reap - Navarro and Hellmuth - Yet to read

What every body is saying - Joe Navarro - Not a poker book. More about body language and positions/movements of people to give an idea of what their intent is. Good interesting read.

Pot Limit Omaha - Jeff Hwang - Think i got through the first couple of chapters. Still should finish this as well.

Kill Everyone - Lee Nelson - Definitely got me more agressive at a table from this book.

Book of Poker Tells - Mike Caro - The old bible of poker tells. Think Navarro has overtaken it in terms of understanding the psychology behind it all.

They are my main ones so far.

Obviously need to stop downloading stuff and start reading again. Think i need a lamp.

But can't recommend Navarro enough for tells and body language. easy to read, easy to understand and easy to implement. For AK - Works for girls as well. :-)

Got this one as well, have read it 3 times and couldn't believe how easy people give off signals when you are looking for them.

I remember one tourny when I was convinced we both had a Ace and their was one on the table, the river hit and she did a 'tell' that told me that she had gotten a second pair, so I folded before she bet and she gave me the dirtiest look - she showed her hand and I was dead right. The tell she did was EXACTLY the same as the photo in the Mike Caro book.

Yes but physical tells should not be the only information you use to make a decision. Caro talks about this extensively. Information gained should be used to supplement all other information tht you have about this player.

Was this the first time you saw this particular physical tell in a player, or had you noticed this over a period of hands/weeks/months. If it was the first time, then what about it made you think that they were strong? How did you know that the particular physical movement wasn't part of their normal baseline behaviour?

This is an area of poker im particularly interested in, but i have been guilty many times of placing too much importance on a particular observation that i have made. Not having a go here, just really interested as to the thought processes behind your thinking that made you so certain about your read, cos its clear you were 100% correct in this instance.

I had just read the book and was concentrating on looking for a particular tell, the tell she did was 100% the same as the photo in Caros book - remember that all the photos in the book have been exaggerated so you know what to look for.
I believed that the tell was natural so I made the decision based on that :)

No problems there Fleur.

Obviously the translation into freeroll tournament is a little slow due to the amount of hands you are playing against opponents. But once you start picking up on tells you will be suprised how quickly the results improve as well.

Any questions about some of the ideas please don't hesitate to ask.
