2 players for the price of 1

Postby m0cster » Wed Sep 16, 2009 4:18 pm

i was on a table today playing a 1500 player freeroll.... "Nothing unusal" How ever i had a sneaking suspicion 2 players on my table were the same person... One would raise, the other would re-raise, so everyone else would fold.... Blinds were like 6,000/12,00... I'm not sure weather you, forums admins maintain the gaming servers, but if you got access to the ip logs i can send you the screen shot i've taken, if you guys choose to follow it up....

this forum is run by ordinary players like you or i, they dont work for 888pl or 888, so they won't be able to help you.

you dont happen to use pokertracker or holdem manager do you?

when you say 1500 player freeroll, are you even talking about 888pl or was it a general pacific poker game?

I have a sneaky suspicion that people do have multiple accounts and use them for 888pl games online. There are a few usernames I noticed that differ very slightly.

I have no idea since I try not to use 888, but it seems likely that there would be measures to stop players on different accounts with the same IP from registering in the same tournaments (such measures are certainly in effect on competiting poker sites). If there isn't, well, I wouldn't be surprised if this was happening and will continue to happen until the issue is addressed by way of a software update.

even still poeple can mask there ip address by using VPN's or even just simply another proxy server........ The only safest machinism i can think would be to MAC Address filter... They can spoofed but it makes it harder to cheat if your just the would-be poker player

there is no ip checking at 888. my brother and i have both played in the same tourney at my house before (no cheating of course, we are too competitive for that :P)

chasing the ip addresses is usually useless these days as they can use the home internet for 1 computer and a wireless for the other(if they are smart that is)

no it's not... it depends on the way you run your network.... if your going to have a home internet account, and then a seperate wireless connection, it means that your paying for 2 accounts when you need only one... Using a "LAN" evenetually your coming from the same Sub-Network anyway, so it's more than liky gives you the answer dosent it?

Never the less... This kent i was playing against put me on tilt.... drop 80 thou in 2 hands... LoL
