A male card shark has crashed a "ladies-only" poker tournament to win nearly $24,000, taking the top prize from a breast cancer sufferer in the process.

Abraham Korotki, a Las Vegas-based poker expert whose online profile claims career winnings of over $700,000, entered himself in the event at the Borgata Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey by exploiting a loophole in the rules.

What loophole? How was he allowed to enter? How has no one asked this yet?

Further ruffling the feathers of his female competitors was the fact that Mr Korotki turned down an offer from his ill final opponent to split the money instead of playing on.

Nicole Rowe, who is facing breast cancer surgery in the coming weeks, reportedly told him she needs the money to pay for her living expenses while she recovered.

Mr Korotki, a 65-year-old real estate developer, has since reportedly pledged to donate his winnings to charity but the recipient has not been identified and nor has any payment been confirmed.

Ms Rowe, a 40-year-old New York optician, took home $13,649.

The article was about 1 female jurno's experiences at a ladies event held at crown.

She too mentioned that in a 150+ female feild 2 or 3 men had entered due to the fact that the casino could not actually stop men from entering.

In this instance i dont think they cashed but.

The same thing happened this year at the Ladies Event (Vic Champs) at Crown. The tournament director mentioned that they cannot stop men from entering as it is considered discrimination.

He then mentioned there were 144 registrations... 143 Ladies and 1 man. From what I know, I don't think there were any protests about him buying in to the tournament.

He ended up being seated at my table and we asked him why he registered. He said he came with his girlfriend to play and registered in the same event as her not realising it was tagged as a 'Ladies' event. He thought there would be men and women playing.

Our table quickly became a bit of a 'feature table', more so when there was a bounty stuck on the poor guy. Whoever took him out got their buy-in back! And it just happened to be a member of this forum (Pundies) that did exactly that!

At the point where the bounty was stuck on him, I started to feel sorry for the guy because it was just becoming a big spectacle. I have no doubt that feminists would have been up in arms if the role had been reversed.

to be honest, i think militant feminists are the problem a lot of the time, and actually preach discrimination that they are fighting so hard to try and eradicate.

In my job, when I was team leader of a team of like 60 staff, there were 2 other guys.
I just couldn't find a opportune time to discriminate

I'm know there are real instances of discrimination, but my experiences tell me that is just someone who didn't get their way, so want someone to blame.

trouble is, it is more often than not very subtle and can seem entirely natural. Women fill those types of roles, so they only apply for (or are given) those types of roles. That sort of thing.

those "women only" type events and targeted promotion are there to help balance many many years of blatant discrimination. Puts women in those roles so it can been seen they can do a perfectly good job of it.

Being the libertarian I am, I'm not a fan of targeted promotions (positive discrimination), but I now believe there is a much stronger argument for it than I would have given credit for when I was younger.
