I am watching the first epsiode of The Pokerstar on YouTube (as I don't have One HD) and so far it looks like a good show. Sally Snow is pretty good looking am I right? The earing guy is the representative of pub poker and he seems pretty standard for pub poker - bit of a douche who thinks he is better than he actually is.

Lee Nelson looks like he's just going to be Joe's stooge.

Re: The Poker Star with Joe Hachem
Not gonna watch it. I recently saw something similar on Fox Sports, and frankly it's a joke.
If you're going to do poker reality show, lets make it about poker, not about stupid stunts between games.
imagine watching The Ultimate Fighter and you competed in stunts to win you way into a match. Stupid.
You train and learn from the coaches who pit their fighters against a fighter they think they can beat.
Lets see a reality poker show where you have 2 camps of players, coached by 2 Pro's and then they play a series of sit'n'go tournys, and you can watch and see if they players actually learn something.

Re: The Poker Star with Joe Hachem
The fact that the first one out in the end show tourney isn't always going to be the one eliminated from the show is a good thing, it's based off the challenges (which do look lame) and how they played and their thinking behind their decisions. I wouldn't mind if they added more key hands.
I'm glad the old guy did well.

Re: The Poker Star with Joe Hachem
I tried out for this show and they asked me to fly over to melbourne to audition, in the end i got shortlisted top 40 out of 18,000 but was unsuccessful. Im sort of glad i didnt make it. I was keen to watch but it seemed boring and slow and didnt really get into the contestants much or play a whole lot of cards. Hopefully gets better in later episodes, ill still keep watching, for now.

Re: The Poker Star with Joe Hachem
Still working my way through the epsiode before heading to over the lounge to watch Casino Royale (poker is everywhere) I am a to a bit that made me think a little.
Not sure what the blinds were but Sally Snow raised to 8k with
. She was flatted by old dude.
The flop came
X
Sally checked to Old Dude who raised 10K into a ~16K pot. Joe and Lee seemed to think that with an OESD, Sally should have check raised. I can see how I can raise with those cards, but is check raising really a great play here?

check raise is by far the best play. it was really horrible that she folded there

This troubles me lol Say we didn't know what cards he has with a pot of 16K and OESD, two spades on the board, let's say for argument sake we are deep stacked and we checked, he fires 10K. Remember the old bloke was playing pretty tight as well but even if he was playing somewhere in between super tight and super loose - Why is check-raising better than flatting or folding???
Also if we check-raise what's our plan for:
a.) A spade turn including 9s and As
b.) The board pairs
c.) An ace or 9 (not of spades)
d.) A non-dangerous brick
