Re: 888PL TC's to return to play in regular competition
I voted "No, It damages the integrity of the game" but would like to add that I think there are other aspects of pub poker (specifically 888pl) that also damage the integrity (perhaps more so than TCs playing in leaderboard games).
I think if integrity is the issue at stake then the idea of random seating needs to be revisited. I know there is another thread on this, but if "integrity of the league" is the reason we do not allow TCs to play, then maybe we should allow them to play and just acknowledge that the league is purely for fun and entertainment.
Also, by this "integrity" logic we should not allow off duty bartenders/pub employees to play as these are the guys that make a joke of the passport system. I stopped playing at one particular venue(last year, when I was playing "seriously" for points) because the passport/stamp system was abused so obviously.
I think it has to come down to what 888pl want to achieve in terms of a mission statement. I personally would like to see a league that is run with a little more professionalism than what the pub poker industry is currently offering, and thought that might be where the new 888pl was heading, differentiating itself from the other purely recreational "drinking game" leagues.
I guess my view comes from a broader wish for the Australian poker industry as a whole. I hope that one day we can have independently run card/poker rooms in Australia. It is currently a legislative issue that I have absolutely no qualifications or knowledge to speak about, but I know that popular, professionally run leagues with good reputations are only going to help this cause.

Re: 888PL TC's to return to play in regular competition
i definitely agree with you mike.
but in this case, i think there can be a distinction made between cash buyin and free tournaments.
whilst i agree with what you are saying, the first objective for a free tournament should always be fun. points are great, but on the whole, if it wasn't fun, we wouldn't play at all. it is definitely fun playing against TDs, especially when a lot of these TDs have also become friends through poker.
so cash games, definitely not, but i think it is fine for freeroll games, so long as there are proper precautions taken

There is no way you're going to get 500 votes in 27 days.

Re: 888PL TC's to return to play in regular competition
I'm all for TD/TC's returning to the playing field. I miss playing against my friends, and the challenge it can bring when playing a higher quality opponent. I think the prizes idea is pretty cool, as this way it will stop the TC's playing a "kamikaze" style of poker (which in turn keeps the whingers happy) and gives them a reward for their efforts.
So in short, I'm all for the TC's returning to play regular events.

Yay Garth!! I am 100% for it.
I play netball and sometimes play against the umpires - same thing to me.
Playing against TD, especially the good ones can only be good for all of our games.
The TD's you hire are usually great people, I'd love to sit down with them at a game - and I wouldn't question the integrity of any of the guys I know.
It's not just a business that you have built here, it is a community and I'm for an all inclusive community.

I support the above initiative, and eagerly await the opportunity to develop my poker skills further. A few astute bets against the likes of Todd Rivers and Calebabe should do it. Make it so.

It's either Bruce hitting on you by calling you Caleb-babe or an extension of your name likely to be pronounced Caleb-baa-bay.
