playing MTTs full time would suck balls, variance is huge.

To play the Sunday majors, Aussie pros like Dong invest in excess of 10,000 in just entry fees, so it's a fair bit of investing but good roi for a big score

Every Monday just look up "delaney_kid" on Stars and you'll find variance is not that huge for these guys.

I have been following him these last few weeks (bit of a man crush) and I am not sure whether he is just in good form, but he manages to make top 5% in almost everything he plays bar the HUGE 7500+ runner games. He's just a machine.

You do realise that the solution to the impact variance has is simply volume.

That's why the top online tournament pros are so successful, they just grind truck loads of tournaments. But yes in general, they are skillful and think on a higher level than most of us.

As to developing a crush on Delaney? There are better human beings out there. LOL. But he can be good for a laugh at times.

my point was, 10 tabling tourneys would be higher variance than 10 tabling cash games.

yes, volume does overcome that though

the life of a regular grinder wouldn't be that great.

IMO Poker routines are not much different to Golfing ...u start as a Hacker = Pub Poker weekly Fish....

and then u have the opportunity to progress thru to the Pros etc....

ie Phil Ivey equates to Tiger Woods

St Andrews = MACCAU ....

St Augustine = Las Vagas

US Open = WSOP.

& all points /Venues and Standards in between

Golf and your self development/ goals is very similar Poker learning/ targets etc etc...

you can participate to the degree and level of involvement and earning/expenditure you desire and/or are capable of. Your enjoyment and satisfaction obtained is a very personal challenge/issue.

I understand that a hole in one is also referred to as an "Ace"......
and it's possible to "get your chip in".......
one could also "hit a nice flop".....
and an "outside draw" is a hook....
you could also "get a nice check on the green".....

But do 5 golf clubs = a flush? :D
