Re: Happy Birthday Kleman
That's because he brought his passive Coleman game to the table, not uber laggy Coleman
One of the funniest things from last night - Nathan has a premonition before the tournament starts:
"Who wants to take my action - I guarantee that 1st hand, I run aces into kings, and kings will flop a set." old-man daryl takes the action. (which may have ended being just a beer
)
3rd or 4th hand of the tourney ... Nath stands up with a wry smile, and heads over to our tables .. not quite as he foresaw, but he did indeed run his AA into KK, who flopped a set

Re: Happy Birthday Kleman
2 SUPER SHORT BAD BEAT STORIES AHEAD
However I will keep them brief as they are relevant to the story.
OK, it's early stages of tourny, I'm on the button and I get AJ off, 3 limpers, I raise to 200. 1 caller, flop is something A310 rainbow. The one guy lefy in the hand makes it 300 I raise make it 800 he fumbles some chips and an extra 500 rolls out, he says raise, so i call, another 3 hits, he bets 100 I jam for the rest. He calls, I roll over AJ he says looks like an ealry night for me and shows A6, sure enough he hits 6 on river and whole table wonders how he called in the first place. I had him covered by about 700 so I'm still alive.
5 or 6 hands later I'm BB and have 56D and I get a free flop, an flop that brings a 5 and a 6. I bet out 200, one caller, J on turn and I jam for the remainder of my chips. dude has J9 and of course rivers a 9, good bye old man Swanky.
OK so that's the bad beats, here's the funny part, a Casino TA watched both hands go down, now I don't know how accurate his stats were, but it doesn't really matter, it made me laugh. He says to me "don't be upset, you were 96% to win that first hand, but you were only 89% on the second, how on earth did you think you were going to win?" That took the sting out and I left smiling.... slightly.
Then I dropped $75 in the first hand I played at the cash game Q10 in BB went down to 84h, he just wouldn't lay down suited cards to any raise, he flushed my pair of tens. And I left a broken man.

Re: Happy Birthday Kleman
first one is a 3 outer - 6% per card basically, so i reckon its 94%
the other one, he had 5 outs. maybe 8 depending on if there was an overcard on the flop, which gives him 8 outs.
i would say his maths is ok there.

Re: Happy Birthday Kleman
yeah HB ALK.
My not so bad bad beat on I'm on the same table as Aaron and Scott, about the 3rd hand in I'm in late position look down at JJ raise to 125, Aaron is BB raises to 575, call, the flop is 10 junk junk, Aaron jams all in I figure AK or high pockets.......I fold my jacks.
Eventually I bust out playing Q 10C v K QD K hits. Move to a 1/2 table and leave 100clams up then go to Woolshed play the CBI finish 8th.

42.7 percent of all statistics are made up on the spot.

Re: Happy Birthday Kleman
Flop was 8 high gundog.
Scott, didn't you see me take down that pot with monster?
this TR won't be thating as I'm typing on my iPhone, no net at home atm. Ok so I got up go 6500 early doubling with AA. We come back to 300/600 and I have 4800. There is a shove for 3300, I reshove with 77. Villian has KQo and flops the nut straight. I shove my 2bb a few lands later after peeling a Q on the button and lose to A high. Oh well, off to the cash gables I go.
No tables of 2/2 going, so JD and I choose 1/2 over 2/3 (came prepared to lose two buyins, but didn't want to at 2/3). So we sit down and the table is very chatty, there's a bunch of canandian guys that work for nickelback in town. Very weak poker players though. Few notable hands from my session:
JD opens to 10 UTG. UTG1 calls, folds to me in the BB. I squeeze J4o and I knew that as soon as JD rasied I was three betting. So I announce raise, and count out 47. JD tank folds and action is on UTG1, a Canadian. After 3m, he calls. I puke, not expecting that at all. If I hit any part of this flip or any draw my remaining ~50 is going in. Flop comes KK7. I doubt he folds anything but Ace high here, so I check and he cannot get his monet into the pot fast enough. I Hollywood and fold, he doesn't show.
Left with 42, I call a raise out of the SB to 4 limpets with 64dd in the BB. All limpers call. Flop is a beautiful T35dd so I just ship my remaining 35 in. The eltqble has been watching me play (missed a flush draw with hammer boo) so they think I have nothing. A3o calls me, and being the 79% fav that I am, I turn a 7 and ship the pot. So back to even now.
Hand I'm really proud of, I limp 77. Canadian guy opens to 12, all his mates call, I call. Flop I KK3, checked to me. The OR is the only one to act behind me and I know he's betting if I check, so leading fives me the nest chance to see how strong my hand is. I lead for 15 and the OR calls. Everyone folds. Turn is an offsuit J, it goes check check. River is an inconsequential 3. I check. He bets 40 of his 41 stack. Now this is a spit where I fold a lot, but my read said that he floated the flop (as he ha done before) and was now bluffing me. If he has a K then I pay him. So I tank and raise him all in, he calls.
"two pair?"
"two pair is good," and he mucks. I tap the table, raking in the ~170 or more pot.
I'm up/down all night. Jim the Canadian grip for nicklebacks stage show gets a royal but I missed it. I drop one buying putting it in on a flush draw and losing to Jim's overpair. I rebuy again and now I'm kinda over it, I wanna go do something else.
I limp K7ss from EP. There is a raise to 12, Dave calls, 2 more callers, I'm like "ehh I can hit spades" and I ship it in for ~50. OR snap reshoves for 200, all fold. Sigh, how big are they, I'm wondering. He turns to me.
"do you have bullets?" and shows me KK.
"wow, now I REALLY need to hit spades." I elect not to show cos it's a cash game and if I miss I can just muck. The flop comes Qd 6d 3c. GHEY! Turn is a 5d, I turn to the kid and say that's a good card for me. River is of course the 4c. I wince and turn over my hand, he pukes. I literally have to contain my laughter as I'm raking in the pot. The second he leaves the table I am in fits.
I lost my buyin playing like an idiot. I head down stairs and find the pokies machine with the highest jackpot and sit down. I turn 20 into 200 within 20 mins. Pretty happy with this, as now the night is only a 180 loss instead of 300.
All in all a good night. Enjoyed playing the cash game more than the tourny, good to chat with randoms. JD told some kid I shipped 5k from pub
poker and it was so embarassing. I loved seeing everyone, turnout was bigger than I expected.
Thanks to all for coming down, and hopefully I see you all Saturday
