Crazy Monday Poll - A serious one

G'day Gang,
In another forum I have a column I call the Crazy Monday Poll. The Crazy Monday Poll originated when I posted the first "Crazy Poll". A poll created with now real question and a few answers to choose from, the question was kinda left up to you. For example the first poll question was Right or Left? and the options were obviously right or left. The following posts became quite funny as people tired to figure out what the question may have been in reference to. It was actually in reference to nothing. The reason it became the Crazy Monday Poll as the poll was posted on a Monday our time and since the other forum is 99% American it was Sunday there. There for traditionally now the Crazy Monday Poll is posted on anything but a Monday although when it is posted on a Monday, it's so rare, that it makes it Crazy! Are you following me so far? Now this has been going on for about 4 years now and has produced some real doozies. As a result I'd like to introduce it here, however I put one up early on in the week, this time with a serious tone as I was genuinely interested in the topic. So far it has spawned 5 pages of intelligent conversation with no flaming. It's quite amazing. So I thought I would pose the question here. I have copied it straight from the other forum, but I would like to underline again, if this in anyway turns in to a flame war, and I hope it doesn't, could the Mods, tear it down straight away. Thanks and I look forward to your answers.

G'day gang, usually the Crazy Monday Poll is something stupid aimed at proving fire for cheap shots at me, or generally a laugh, but not this time.
This time I am keen to find out some information, I don't plan on starting any flame wars from this, I am purely interested. The question is simple:

Do you believe in God?

Now I'm not worried as to what religion you may be, the question relates to you and "your" God. So I guess the question could also be stated, Do you believe in A God? I'm not worried if you have been brought up as a particular faith and you state you may be Catholic or what ever but you don't really believe in God, but you're still a Catholic. I just want a black and white answer.

If this opens up for discussion, all well and good (hopefully friendly, intelligent discussion) but for the most part, I'm just interesting in the answers.

Yes, I do.

I'm not going to explain why, because whenever I do things get heated and the insults start flying.

But basically it's a yes because there is no other realistic, logical, possibility.

I'm not religious at all. I'm probably an atheist.

But I can accept the idea of a higher power if there were some actual proof. So I can definitely see the idea of A god, I don't believe in anything atm though.

my answer is yes, but im not sure which.

my family was brought up lutherans, but as a man of science i kinda realise that someone dying and coming back from the dead on the third day is kinda silly. more likely he went fishing for the weekend. we still celebrate christmas and have a tree and stuff though.


as a engineer, i am well aware that there are many questions that are left unanswered by science. for those that are atheists. ill ask you this. how did the world get here?

and if you say that it was a bunch of dust and gases and stuff in a cloud that clumped together and formed into a planet, then you would be right. but how did that dust get there? that is the question that does my head in.
