2 in the space of 30 seconds.

Postby maccatak11 » Mon Dec 21, 2009 5:44 pm

Notes: against pretty aggro player, and i was sure this was a pretty safe board for me - i discounted flush draws from him straight away and thought i did a pretty good job making my hand look like a flush, but any comments would be appeciated.

Then this happened against the biggest lagtard on the table. was two buy-ins in the hole and playing terribly. I just couldnt find a fold on the river against this player. hindsight is wonderful and its probably a fold, but i put him on a weaker ace every day. i saw him call raises with hands like A7 and A5 before. Btw i know my flop bet is a little small, but was designed to get the fish to spew. didnt work though.

in the first one, why did you check-call the flop?

either lead or check raise, but either way, look to get it in on the flop.

you ran into aces, its a cooler. it happens.

the second hand, i would just come out and pot both flop and turn - if he is a tard then he will call anyway.
on the river, i think check-calling is the way to go, or maybe even bet-folding.

Hand 1 - I think his bet on the river indicated strength (could have easily been the flush you yourself were representing.)

Your re-raise was on end was effectively your mind thinking 'if he has the flush, i'm shot but my bet MAY get him off".
Unfortunately, he was thinking the same "if he has the flush (or a random 8 which is unlikely considering your pre-flop raise) then i am shot but my aces MAY hold up. Plus i am getting 2.8-1..... and hey presto!

Hand 2 - You just got the sickness on the end and there was not much you can do about that. Maybe bet more on the turn, but that is the fine line between reeling in a fish and falling overboard......(shame it wasn't the Jd ey?)

P.s. $0.10/0.25 expect people to chase flushes and showdown aces no matter what.
May all your pain be champagne!

Im hijacking too Macca, only lost 3 hands of 21 showdowns in a big tourny the other night over 250+ hands.

AK vs AK - lost to a flush
AK vs AK - lost to a flush
and the coup de grace......
AA vs AQ lost to flopped and rivered queens. Busted 6 spots from a $45 minimum bubble payout, after sitting in top 10 for most of tourny.

FFS! I start another tournament and have QQ and get it all in on the turn to have a Q fall on the river and give opponents AJ the straight!

Poker - run good, run bad, all part of the game.
