Re: AFL Dream Team 2010...
Yes Macca ur right baseball not hockey.
As far as fantasy footy goes, its my 2nd fav time waster after poker
I did the original Australian Newpaper one wayback for about 5 years.
There was a phone-up supercoach with Ron Barassi about a decade ago as well.
I've played em all.
Dream team has been around for quite awhile now and is getting better every year with clever innovations and more and more participants.
Ive done Supercoach for 2 years now and im a traditionilist as well, but i like it just slihjtly better than dream team for a few reasons. (you get Kevin Sheedys team in your league if you want which is awesome - he tries hard!)
So i do em both!
Im trying to put together a Superleague and have a shot at being the top league.
Every persons team can be in up to 3 different leagues (for those of you with more than 15 friends
) at once.
So i'll be in the Forum one but im Officially inviting 3 forum members to my Superleague. Bacon, and the McDonald bros have had awesome scores in the two years that ive been involved with so ur invited. So is your mate from last year Bacon, he knew what he was doing. Do any of you have mates that can average above 1900 in dream Team all year? (or average 2100 in Supercoach)
Ive gots about 3 spots spare if you guys are in for 1 mate each (if they are good enuff!)
So put my name down for both.
I'll set the leagues up when they goe live.
They will be called "888PL Forum Cup" (or something like)
Bacon, benny the cunt and Matt, i'll PM you the league code to my Superleague (im setting them up for both SC and DT)

Re: AFL Dream Team 2010...
sicknuts. sign me up toddy.
the main league that me and benny the cunt are in we started 6 years ago with some of my mates from uni. we too screened entrants for spare spots we had at the start, but we have been stable as a league for the past 3-4 years now. One year we were top 100 in the comp for a while and ended up finishing about 300th, which wasn't bad. last year was the worst for our league and it finished about 2000 out of about 15000 (or something) so it was good but not great.
We should do a poll adding how many research hours people put in before picking their dream team. i've prob averaged about 20 i would reckon.
These are the best days of the year in order:
1. Australia Day
2. When the fantasy footy leagues open
3. Christmas Day
4. NYE
5. The rest of the days

Re: AFL Dream Team 2010...
You know, with the combined efforts of certain talents on this forum id have an interesting business proposal that im sure we could get off the ground.
I reckon it fits right in the slot to a niche market and would ROLL us in GOLD if we did it right, well splash us with some cash anyways.
Someones probably thought of it before, but we have the heads here to put it together.
If you are interested in my thoughts, PM me.
Also if you have Zero knowledge of fantasy footy, dont bother PM'ing me saying you want in.
Dont spread it around the place on this forum, as im sure no-one that isnt into fantasy footy would even read this thread.
I may even delete it later..................."this msg will self-destruct in ......."

Hey Todd,
do you buy the AFL Prospectus each year?
I bought it last year, and it was a massive help.
I'll post a link for everyone else if they haven't heard of it b4.
but basically it's a big book full of AFL stats, DT & SC average's from the last 5 season's
it is a bit pricey, but well worth the investment if you want to do well in this game.

I've never bought it and do alright.
If you want the stats, you can find them online at places like www.footywire.com
