As far as not many people buying a $500 GF ticket mate you might be very surprised.
Last season I tried to win one during the season, then again at the Semis. Plus I offered at least two people a cash purchase and chop deal that was accepted then fell over at the last minute.
My next attempt was at the Friday night rebuy on the GF weekend. And I missed out but seeing there were 15 up for grabs I worked the remaining tables and found 3 guy on one that had 2 GF tickets.
I ended up buying one from one of the Tassie guys for $300 but I was prepared to buy for $500 just for the experience in the first Grand Final M8. There were at least 10 guys chasing tickets and I know 2 of them payed $500.
This season I made 15th in the dream team and will receive $400 and I was just gonna put another $100 to that and play the next GF.
Unfortunately, I have decided to go to my best mates sons wedding. Hopefully he'll only marry once but I can play another GF assuming I'll be around long enough, LOL.

All I asked was
if you have played 400 games at home but no away games you can't qualify.
(As Working patterns are affecting some peoples ability to play 10 away venues)
Also if you have no internet access, but play 50 away games you can't qualify.
(As I know some people that play a large number of events, but dont have internet access.
If you don't have internet access it is hard to even log on and just get blinded out)
Bob B I doubt many people will be purchasing a $500 final ticket, rather attempting to qualify.
Either by playing a vast number of Away or Home events. Which is my point!
I a roundabout way that is my gripe no primetime game therefore = I cannot qualify as I will not have 10 online game, nett effect the product is no longer attractive to me for that reason.
And I will not intentionally register for a game that I'm not going to play it, just to qualify, we have all said our bit about dead stacks.

it would be good to get some confirmation on whether it is 10 online and 10 pub games, or just the 10 pub games.

yeah i would personally be very suprised if there is a REQUIREMENT to play online games in order to qualify. This would piss off a lot of people.
Its fair enough to have a minimum number of live events that people have to play in order to qualify from an online venue, but
what about the player who plays only 8 games at one live venue and finishes in the top 5 at that venue?? do they not qualify??

No prime time games means you can't play 10 games in a season? I find that hard to beleive, but eh, ok.
As for playing LIVE games, people need to open their eyes. It's bugger all.
Think back before all the changes. There was a State Final. To get in that you had to finish top 5 in a venue which usually meant going to over 80% of the season at a venue. If you couldn't get there, bad luck, you couldn't get in to State Finals.
Consider the new "Grand final" as an extension of the new "Semi Finals" which are really the old State Finals.
No one complained before because you had to "make top 5 at a venue" to qualify.
Now you don't even have to WIN or BE GOOD. Just ROCK UP.
If you don't have time to play 10 live 888PL games then you don't have time to be part of the competition, and therefre don't have time to play the grand final.

Me too i agree, but the difference is that the old state finals didnt have a dollar figure attached to qualification, the grand final does, and so people then equate it with a normal buy in event which apart from a buy in amount has no strings attached
Does anyone know how to make money playing uno vs 6 year olds, its about the only card game i get to play these days.

Yes Krunchie, I really think that most people playing the 888pl league are mostly entry level & or social players and if they don't qualify for the GF through a satellite of some sort or a really deep run in the semi's, will prob give it a miss. The ones that do buy in will either be more experienced and therefore more confident in their ability to cash, or just plain rich with money to splash.
I think the point is that the 888pl need to make a minimum requirement for qualification to their premier event to ensure all that make it have truly done all that they can to support the league, whether it be by playing the minimum and qualifying or buying in, or by going nuts and playing everything in sight....
Also don't forget that the GF is a minimum $100K event, and will probably soon be a $300K event, so cannot be compared to the $25K state finals of the old NPL, and by rights should be more difficult to qualify for...
The old State finals are still there in the form of Semi Finals, with the same qualification criteria, and are now even easier to qualify for with the introduction of online games....
What?, poker without the river??, you've just made my dreams come true!!!
