Caroline,
I watch you play for the first couple of hours and you indeed played very well.
I think that the table that you were on helped you heaps in regard to how nice everybody on the table was.
Again well done.
It is great to see all these forumers getting better and better.
Kindest Regards Alex.

Hey Alex.. Thanks heaps, that means heaps. :)

I completely agree with what you say.
The table I started on was awesome, actually most of the tables I was on were.
They were possibly a little more passive than tables I have been on in the past and certainly willing to have a smile, which to me personally makes a huge difference.

To be honest, there were a couple of moments I was not impressed with the sporting behaviour of players, but that is normal. But let us be honest, the players in general in the finals seem to always be of good behaviour, I didn't see one instance of rabbit hunting, or playing out after the hand was folded. It made for a really good game.

I also agree that the forums are the place to come for lessons etc, I can't help but feel that this only helps us grow as players.

passive tables are the best, because YOU decide how many chips go into the middle! as you no doubt showed, it is pretty easy to crush these sorts of players

Also thanks heaps benny the cunt... :)

It was terrifying and to be honest, I have just learned so much from reading the forums and talking to so many of you and whilst this is a one off thing (hopefully so far.. lol), I really believe I played a different game.

But anyway, it wasn't a win so I won't ramble.. LOL

However, thanks again for your congratulations, it is truly appreciated.

U played very well caroline, very nice to meet you and sit with you on the final table :)

You also Mattie... It was definately a good final table.
(I am pretty sure you were the nice young bloke that I sat next to for nearly the last half of the game, you never actually told me your name... LOL)

I am terrible with names and working them out with usernames, I am sorry for that.

Hey ya benny the cunt.. :)

Hmmm... I agree but only slightly disagree..
Passive tables are a bit easy to take chips from, but they are usually pretty hard to take huge quantities of chips from.
I find in my case, that they tend to get lucky on the river, because I am trying not to frighten them away, but if you play too aggressive, they run like frightened bunnies.

How do you play or use that passiveness to your advantage?
Is it best to be aggressive or is it better to play the frightened bunny side of yourself?

this is your problem right here!

when you get passive players on the table, you bet, bet bet. and just when the other players think that you are going to check, you bet.

the fact that they are scared is PERFECT, because it means you can steal pots without even having a hand.

sooner or later, they will realise that you are betting with nothing, but because they are passive players, to "keep you honest" they will just start calling down light, but hardly ever put the pressure on by raising you. them calling too much is great, because this is where you can get paid on your big hands. and YOU decide how much goes in the pot, not them. they will never raise you without the goods, in which case, you can fold safely.

of course if someone starts raising you, then you can tighten up a bit. if the rest of the table isn't switched on, they wont even realise that you have tightened up a bit, and so they will still pay you off when you hit your big hand. but its great when you bet 3 times in a row with air, then pick up a monster, because this is the time when you get paiiiiiid.

imho, when you get big hands, most of the time they play themselves - i.e rarely do you trap someone when they have nothing and you have a monster - most of the time, the big pots are when you have the best hand, and they have a second best hand. (of course there is skill in determining whether your hand is best, but thats a different issue)

the most important strategies in tourneys especially, revolve around keeping your stack afloat when you dont have big hands - i.e stealing, cbetting, etc. and this is where it is great to have a passive table, because they let you do this without much resistance.
