As it stands, i think the point multipliers for games can be improved.
I am all for trying to level out the online/live scores, but at it stands, the points multipliers compromise the away game venue leaderboards, because you still only get 10 points for rocking up to play.
this is a comparison between the new and old points systems, for 40 runners. (they might be slightly off, but it doesn't matter in this instance)
1st.
New: 310, Old: 70
15th:
New: 60, Old 20
DNP
New: 10, Old 10
this puts much more emphasis on making the points, rather than being a regular participant in the games, because under the old system, attending twice more than someone else cancelled out the effect of a 15th place, where now its six games. it will be very easy for someone to miss a bunch of games in a season, and still make the top 5, providing they do well in the other games. a good example would be me at the kingsford last season, were i only played 9 out of 15 games. i did pretty well in those games, making final table 6 times. as such, i finished 8th on the leaderboard, missing out by around 40 points.
if the current season's points multipliers were in effect, i would have made the top five easy. now before you just say i am whining, i don't believe i deserved a finals berth last season, becasue i only played 9/15 games.
so my proposal is to increase the points for rocking up to an away game to 50.
i.e for away games, you get 50 points for a DNP
for home cash games, you get 30 points (becasue there is a 3x multiplier on these games)
for home freeroll games you get 10 points
this will not affect the overall dream team leaderboard, because a 15th placing in a 200 runner home game attracts 60 points - so a placing in a home game will still mean more than a DNP in an away game most of the time, but what it will do, is bring back the original incentive for people to rock up consistently to their pub games, rather than trying to play half a season and hope that is enough.
what do you think?
i know this is a small issue, and wont be acted upon this season, but i think it is something to think about in future seasons.
(edited to make it a bit clearer about what i am proposing)

Makes it hard, because of the online games having so many runners

it doesn't affect the current points system at all, except for applying the points multiplier to the DNP as well.
i.e for away games, you get 50 points for a DNP
for home cash games, you get 30 points
for home freeroll games you get 10 points

Re: Points Multipliers for Games
So to be clear, this proposal is specifically regarding the impact on venue leader boards?

yes. i believe these changes will have no effect on any other leaderboard besides the away venue leaderboard.
