Re: Why do people keep 2 flight cards?
So reading through this thread was fun
I used to cash in a card at the start, always. But lately... I've been trying something different.
I don't cash in any cards at the start. Why? It helps me play a tighter game, for one. And yes, I realise that I should be able to play the same regardless of how many chips I have in front of me, but I don't. Its:
"Oh, I've got 1800 left, I can call another 200 on a straight draw."
vs
"Oh, I've only got 800 left, I probably shouldn't call another 200."
Now perhaps in both instances folding is the right move (bad odds to call, too many players in the pot, etc) but with the extra chips, I can't see that. I'm more carefree. And yeah, if it takes having a smaller stack for me to see that, so be it.
Plus I don't like committing 2000 to a pot when I'm bound to get called and... yes, you know what word I'm talking about.

Re: Why do people keep 2 flight cards?
the problem is, if you do decide to call with only 800 left, and you do hit your straight or flush (lets say you had top pair as well, so it made you call), you only have 800 more to get value out of the hand, not 1800.
its a tough one though, and there are merits to both keeping a card and cashing it in.
