Probably the other reason I'd like to go for a spreadsheet set up. That way, I can enter them in Friday, or if I get busy, I can still do it after wards, say on Saturday or Sunday, it wouldn't matter as much because their tips are in etc. And then I don't have to worry about getting my ass kicked because I didn't get them in on the web on time.
:D

pretty sure as an admin, you can edit the tips at any time, even after the deadline

Yeah that site lets each user set whether admin can edit their tips or not.

Seriously mate, DONT go paper based. it is soooo much work. If people don't have computers, surely you have computers at work that they can use.

Lots of people at my school didnt really know how to enter their tips online, so i typed up an instructions list with screen shots which i gave to each person (im buggered if i can find it though, otherwise i'd attach).

Its also much fairer in that the system locks people out after the deadline, automatically defaults them to away tips and automatically genrerates leaderboards and round winners.

If you want to do something paper based, run an eliminator competition.

Each person gets one card with the 16 teams listed in one column, and a blank box next to them.

Each round, they must pick ONE team that they think will win on that week, and write the round number next to that team. They can only pick each team once for the year, so strategy is involved there. If their team wins, they move onto the next round, if their team loses, they are eliminated.

So the competition could theoretically run 16 rounds, but often doesnt, meaning you can start another one after the midseason break if you want. We have charged $5 for participation in the eliminator, with the winner taking all.

We have run both of these competitions in conjunction with each other throughout the last couple of years and it has worked really really well.

We also give $5 for each round winner also (most tips + closest friday night margin).

So in short - go web based, make up instructions, and add an eliminator and round winners
Riskers gamble, experts calculate.

Mate this is a simple family based trucking company. The lady that does the pays has a computer and I bring my own laptop in.
that be it.

I was thinking of doing an eliminator too.
I seriously think once the spreadsheet is set up, I'm gold. Luckily I have plenty of time to work this out.
It will only be about 25 people in it.

there is no difference at all between a web based system that you manually enter all the tips, and an excel sheet, except the excel sheet will take ages to set up.

i would go web based for yourself, but everyone can still give you their tips via paper
