In live pub poker, usually the word missing, is "to".
Small blind is 50, big blind is 100.
First person says "Raise 300"
Really, this means it's 400, as they are raising 300.
What they mean is "Raise to 300"
When someone raises from 100 to 250, they are raising to 2.5x the big blind.

Re: can you please look at this for me
however the other night on WSOP Europe Daniel N in a hand from the small blind flat called to the BB the BB then raised it to x.
Daniel N then said I'm calling and something like " slamming you up" and proceeded to drop chips on the table with both hands, the BB spun out and requested a ruling from one of the floor, the ruling went in Daniels favor.
So based on that ruling, you can call and then raise as long as it annonced before placing your chips in.
So in effect every raise is actually a call and raise so then the maths becomes academic...so the bet can be X times the BB or the raise is X times the previous bet.
Crikey this is getting pedantic.

Re: can you please look at this for me
I don't quite know your point there.
That isn't what we're talking about.
What Daniel did was either a string bet or not a string bet. He verbalised he was raising, so that was what they went on.
Fact of the matter is, a raise to 2.5x the BB, is a total bet of 2.5x the BB.
Simple logic.

maccatak11 wrote:No, thats 2.5 times the BB. raises/bets are talked about as multiples of the BB, not how much extra above the BB the actual bet/raise is. so 2x is a min-raise.
Think this way: Post-flop
Bet of 200 (2xBB - Or 2x).
Raised to 800. The bet is 8xBB, but the raise is 6xBB.
I'm not perfect. I'm what perfect aspires to become
