At the end of the day if people are willing to buy tickets with a stake, then people selling tickets will ask for one.
Personally i wouldn't take that deal simply because if i do well a $500 ticket could end up costing much more than $500.

Re: Wanted: GF Ticket
Sort of a 6 to 1 , half dozen to another ...
I see it as if i could get the ticket cheaply (eg. $200) with a stake ,
I am saving $$ to start with ..
Paying the stake is a thank you for the cheap ticket ...
Any moneys made above the cheaper purchase price (eg.$200) is all profit ... regardless what has to pay out in the stake agreement ! !
I am not a greedy person after the massive $$ myself , just in it for the experience , enjoyment , and atmosphere !
Not saying anyone is greedy mind you ...
If i had spare tickets i would probably do as David did and give them to freinds or family ..
Good luck to ALL those who are playing this weekend , may you run deeper than "something old man Swanky said in another post" !

Re: Wanted: GF Ticket
How I see it is because the seat has a nominal value of $500, there are many out there that it worth just that, and If I'm a seller I'm entitled to get as close to that as possible, which is a missconception, in reality the the value of the seat is what the buyer is prepared to pay.
In my case I see the $250 + a % of winings as a equitable arrangement even if you do win the event, but if sellers are asking close to the nominal value then you might as well pay a direct buy-in.
Ask yourself this you are offered return flights to the US and the $10,000 paid to enter the WSOP main event, would you quibble signing an agreement that 40% of any winnings go back to the person making the offer.
so If you say yes to that offer whats the difference.( Ok 40% of a lot or nothing)

42.7 percent of all statistics are made up on the spot.

Re: Wanted: GF Ticket
if i was going to buy a ticket, i would much rather pay 50-100 extra initially in return for buying the ticket outright instead of having a stake.
i like to think that i can back myself to run deep in one of these tourneys, so i dont mind the initial extra outlay.

Re: Wanted: GF Ticket
If I was selling a ticket, I'd offer $250 + 20% (up to $750). That way, I would have the opportunity to double the value of ticket, and if someone runs deep and win $6,000, they keep the majority.
By capping the winnings, if my pony goes well, I still get a good return, but they don't feel ripped off.

Re: Wanted: GF Ticket
There is no "perception" that the ticket is valued at $500, it IS worth $500. All the money collected in the rebuy events and buying events, is calculated, so that when $500 is reached, 1 ticket is up for grabs and for every $500 over another ticket is offered. Make no mistake, that seat is worth 500 large ones.
So....
Let's put it this way.
If you have an item and you pay $500 for it, but need to sell it for what ever reason, aren't you going to to try to get as close to the $500 you paid for it? If not more?
Knowing that people can buy in for $500 outright, means that you won't be able to sell it for that, however, you may be able to sell it for $450, that person still saves $50. If it was something they wanted and it was $500 and they got it on sale for $450, they'd be happy.
There is no difference here.
FWIW, I too have a number of people that a spare ticket would have either been given to or sold at a very stupid low price. Probably with no stake, but that is because of who they are.

Unfortunatley within a week the goal posts changed and i was informed that i could only roll over a ticket if i had 2 and still played 1 of them.
Didn't realise that mate, apologies.

Re: Wanted: GF Ticket
So how would everyone feel if the option of buying a ticket outright from 888pl for $500 was not available for the next GF?
If the only tickets available are those that have been "won", the value the tickets being sold privately would go up.
Discuss.... (or not!!)
