Want a cheap WAP (not router)

Postby rcon » Thu Feb 25, 2010 2:40 pm

Anyone know of a cheap wireless access point with at least 4 ports on it?

thought they'd be easy to find, but apparently they're not - they're all routers, which i guess is what a WAP is, but not in the configuration I want it!

ie. Have wireless modem/router in bro-in-law's house, want to put a WAP in shed and then run a couple of network leads to PCs and printers.

Damn, sold out.
Oh it's a router too. I didn't read your post properly :(

Most WAPs don't have more than one lan point - I rememeber looking for one ages ago, ended up with a WAP, and a 4 port switch instead.

Hey there - he decided to try for the USB(g) dongles first up to see what the reception was like, as he only had 801.2b's out there to begin with.

We're going to have to hard wire it out there tho, the inside wireless router/modem is just too far from the shed.

Thanks anyway

I have a Belkin Wireless router that isnt doing much.

Run a Cat5 lead from the modem to the shed... attach it to the router... viola wireless in the shed.
