I think not todays drivers/steerers, cannot be compared to the greats of yesterday, how quick would the likes of Fangio, Brabham, Stewart, Moss etc etc be with the aid of Power Steering, Disc Brakes, Seqenstial shift gearbox, and all the other gizmo's and gadgets that go with todays F1 car.

Schu is/was good in his time but I doubt he would of held a candle to driving with arm strong steering in the old narowed tyred missiles of their era.

Todays F1 lacks something I would rather watch NASCAR.

LOL nascar is the most boring of ALL motorsport!

straight, left, straight, left, straight, left. OMFG a right turn i dont know how to do one of those!?!?!?!

and with schumacher, his record speaks for itself. comparing across era's is impossible (was russell ebert better than andrew mcleod?)

Hell yes by 2 or 3 country miles even though Russell only played a limited number of VFL games an all time great champion of Footy, along with Barry Robram who only played in SA, Bungy could never be compared with either of them.

this is where you are wrong gundog.

mcleod would THRASH THE PANTS off any footballer from 30 years ago. in fact, pretty much any modern day footballer would. watching a game from 30 years ago, you can see how terrible the skills were compared with today.

this is to do with the modern fitness and skill training techniques, which are far far better than they were in the past.

this makes it very hard to compare athletes from any sport across era's. if any of todays afl footballers were playing in the 70s, with his current training regime, they would undoubtedly dominate and would go down as an all time great.

similarly, if russell ebert was 25 today and was playing, im sure he would be a great player. but to say he would be better or worse than someone else is pretty damn hard to do. a 1970's ebert wouldn't get a game in the sanfl today, such are the advances in fitness and skills.

That was one of the most boring F1 races i've ever seen. The ban on refueling just sucked any excitement from the race, everyone was nursing their cars around to not ruin their tyres. So much for the new rules making the racing more exciting

having to start the race using the tyres you use to set your qualifying lap time makes for interesting tactics as there are no fuel stops to refuel . You start with all the fuel your can use in the race, and there is a hard /soft tyre combination requirement in the race , [ the weight/setup of your car for the race has to be a comprimize to your qualifying lap set up .
Very interesting
The limited no of engines you can use in the season will make the engineers/speeds and race tactics an interesting senario.. It all will make for an intersting season of Racecraft....my monies are on Mercedes and Brawn and Schumacker etc to do well....

all this along with the narrower front tyre are designed to slow/limit the speeds of these beasts.
