So in summary thus far:

1.) Last years Dream Team winner had no idea on the new criteria for the Dream Team Score Board or the changes to how it was calculated and ranked.

2.) More equity between game selection for regional players and metro players, which will never be achieved through regular competition offerings.

3.) A Standardised point structure for the same bonus points for finishing positions irrespective of field size - I will never go down this path simply because reward should be given for achieving FT and winning in larger games. You will have to wait for a new Ops manager for that to ever happen.

4.) Last year not enough freerolls were offered, this year too many freerolls are offered.

5.) To make the competition fair I need to put the FR/RB tournaments in a "work friendly" time, but right now their timing clashes with venue operations already??????? :? \

6.) We should look to up the registration points to 50 or equal to the multiplier applied to that game.

7.) I have requested data from 888 to help me decide on whether the point multiplier of 3X should apply to these games.

8.) Metro players will always have the advantage over regional players, simply becuase they have a greater game selction with a larger amount of runners per event.

In regards to point 7.) we are moving forward with creating more regional based promotions and prize money opportunities. I am more than empathetic to the plight of the regional player right now, they are disadvantaged to an extreme extent within this competition compared to metro players; so we are looking to offer more special events in regional areas, regional finals or prize money freerolls and promotions based around growing the region and solidifying our position within each region.

And finally, we might have gone around and around in circles, but there are always going to be some games (home in particular) that offer the greatest advantage to players who are trying to achieve a spot on the Dream Team. As I have previously stated I think we are the closest to a fair points system than we ever have before offered.

great post garth.

with regards to the rebuy games, can you comment on the merits of changing them from freeroll+rebuy to small buyin+rebuy, and leaving the 3x points multiplier in place?

just an alternative suggestion

also garth, as much as i love poker, i really really really dont envy your position. :D

Thanks benny the cunt, yes my position isn't as much fun as it usually is right now! LOL.

I want to see the data from 888 before I comment any further on the FR/RB games and what direction I would like to take with them.

Spot on ! ! !

I bet my last dollar that if you held a 10x multiplyer in Clare or up the Riverland , there would be some that would travel to take advantage of it .. including myself !

Hence why i opted to play the 555 @ the semi's , and not the high rollers !

I can imagine how big the 888PL community is , and all the different demagrafics of players that play , hence why in my opinion the freeroll/re-buy 3x games , cater for ALL demagrafics of player ... from the likes of me who dont care to re-buy 20 times to the player who dont like to spend $$ at all !

We ALL have the opputunity to take home some of the prizes on offer !

Phwooaar , i am feeling giddy ....

Great work Garth ... we do play in the best comp in Australia due to hard work from the powers that be ! !

*pats on backs all round

I think the main reason a lot are up in arms over these games is that they din't Jerry to it earlier on in the season !

Bring on Season 2 ! !

After reaching my goal that i set for myself this season , i have an idea in mind what i will aim for next season ;) ..

Leaving this thread now , thank you all kindly ..

I like this bit of your post Garth. I liked the old regional finals. When they were heavily promoted i remember some evenst in the riverland getting 90-100 players. These events were awesome, and adding a special points multiplier, perhaps additional prize money, or at the very least a cash buy in teams event embedded within a special points game would be awesome.

Hell a big points game may even increase the amount of players travelling to such events. I would absaloutely love it if Bruce brought a Barossa team and AK brought a Gawler team up to a riverland special teams event, or something similar.

It can only strengthen poker in country areas, keeps dream team points chasers happy, allows country players to compete to a greater extent (but not to an unfair extent) and creates another special event to look forward to. Im getting excited already.

(perhaps the idea of a country deepstack at wirinna or clare could be one of the special 10x multiplier games - probably with a points cap though. Good for country players, and incentive for city players to travel)

EDIT: phil beat me to it, but hey the idea is getting people excited already

G,day Garth .
I think the current system is the correct 1 but maybe small towns could be offered a 1 or 2 game event every season that allows for a 7x multi or so,But who,s to say that people from big venues wont go chasing points @ these games .

Gundog , whilst i can see a certain point to your view.
I can not see why people like me who play @ venues , Who have runners between 60 to 90 ,"120" on occasions ,
should get the same amount of points as somewhere that has 30 runners. Places with less runners can make more points consistently than what can @ my two locals .It is a lot harder to be in the points for ten away games .For us than it is for you .
