I would also like to state that none of my comments have been slanderous or defamatory in any way and I am more than willing to discuss the NPL competition here, simply because a lot of confusion will reign with a minority of players.

And my players have the right of freedom of speech to discuss any product, operational practices of competitors and general levels of customer services, they have this right as consumers.

Very nice politically correct statement Garth, I can see that you are trying to cover your arse and I appreciate and respect your comments.

I really dont think you have much to worry about, the market is SA is quite saturated with existing poker leagues and I think if you continue to offer the excellent service and great promotions you will not have anything to worry about. You may lose a minority of players who will "stick with their local" but other than that, I believe you will continue to thrive well.

A phone call that one of my Operational Supervisors received from someone yet to be named who threatened legal action against me for my slanderous and defamatory comments about NPL and this person personally in this particular public forum.

There is no basis for any sort of lawsuit.

I was threatened once to be sued for slander. Apparently (according to these idiots) it's illegal to tell the truth about someone if it's in anyway nasty, that's slander and defamation (according to them). Luckily for me, this was an attempted threat to stop a statement I had written getting introduced as evidence in a court case. Luckily for me, I knew the law and invited the law suit. They are still idiots. I'm not defaming these people, because it's true!

I'm sure Garth is fully aware of that law too, and he knows he's as safe as house.
And you only start pushing the slander and defamation barrow when you're worried about your product.
I personally wish NPL all the success in the world, getting a business off the ground is hard work, but I figure they are behind the 8-Ball and have (if Garth is anything to go by) many, many sleepless work filled nights ahead of them.

I agree, and not meaning to be argumentative (maybe devils advocate) (and in NO way am I associated with ANY poker league) but free speech is only allowable on the forum providing it is constructive and appropriately worded. Surely you should request this Garth, regardless of topic?

I don't think it necessarily has to be constructive. I am well within my rights to say that i don't like something and o don't have to give reasons why. Whether that is helpful or not is debatable but it's not slander or defamation

I am not saying that anyone has committed these offences.

I am merely stating that it is the view that all comment/criticism/whinge/etc is put forward in a constructive manner. Why would management not request that of all posts put forward? Why is it not ok to speak ill of one poker provider (ie I can't say that 888pl is a f***n disgrace....post would be deleted, there is no substance behind the statement and I would look like a tool) and yet it is ok to go town on another poker provider.

That could be seen as a fostering of attitudes within a certain community. As with broadcasting the notification of contact that your company has received. Why the necessity to pass this information along if not to incite a certain feeling among the community of poker players on the forum?

Criticism can be delivered in a positive or negative tone. The way that statements are constructed effects the way that statements are interpreted. Constructive comments are endorsed by the forum that is all.

That is all. I don't need to state my preferences other than to say that I wish I had plenty of time to play poker every night of the week socially with my friends, but haven't had time to for the last 8 months....beware, over the next 6 months you will see my return...maybe.

And on a personal note, I have every respect for Garth, there is no ill-will, I am purely playing devil's advocate in regards to this topic (which is generally driven by emotion and can rapidly get out of hand).
