ONE DAY TOURNEY BIG STACK 20 MIN BLINDS AND RESULTS BY THE END OF THE DAY SOUNDS GREAT FOR AN OLD FELLAS BONES.
Remember, It takes 8 muscles to smile
and 40 to frown

I think the two day format for the GF should be for the GF only. The 1 day, 10k stack/ 20min blinds is just right for a semi-final

the problem is, 10k stack and 20 min blinds wouldn't finish in a single day.
most of the ones i have played at have been 5k start stack 25 min blinds, and that still goes for 12 hours (including breaks).
and you could expect to have a slight increase in the number of players, because the challenge and foundation semi finals are combined this season.
so unless the tourney starts at 9am and goes to midnight, i dont think it is feasible to have a larger start stack than 5k unless we want to make it a turbo

5k starting is fine IMO.
Whatever gets it done in one day.

JUst A quick thought out loud... by opting to play the longer format with a 2 day event wouldnt that be better for the grand finals as it gives you more oppertunity to practice having long grinds and seesions at the table and playing the way that you need to play to get through any long live tourny ... tournaments all over the world are played over several days and require alot of patients ...
i for one am up for getting as many of these types of tournys in as possible and putting some practice and time in so that when it comes to the grand final or aussie millions i am used to the play and long grind at the tables...

even with the tourney being on a single day, you will still get the chance to grind. there is usually another big tourney on the next day. for the past few seasons, it has been challenge final then foundation on successive days, and that is two 10+ hour days if you run deep.
but im sure there will be another tourney on the other day of the weekend if we only have a single day finals

I'll be really surprised if the same format for the GF gets through.
Similar structure to the Challenge Event is fine IMO.

this can't happen on a single day though
i guess the middle ground is to have something like the challenge event, but play down to the cash or the final table or something, and then come back on day two to play the rest out

Re: Format for the semi-finals.
Just do whatever we did in the old state finals
That worked.
It was fun.
And it was one (long) day.

This +100000
I finished 10th in our challenge semi and it was an awesome structure. Was 10+ hours though, but I see no problem with playing down to a certain number and coming back the next day. I'd be for it.
