This also. Would work best. Save the really deep stacks etc for the grand final. The challenge semi was a simply awesome structure.

this can't happen on a single day though/quote]

But the Challenge event did happen in a day? :/

Forget field sizes boys, attrition rate in the field is generally the same. I.E: First 10 levels 28% of the field is eliminated, next 10 blind levels, 50% of the starting field is eliminated.

It isn't until you get to the top 30% of the tournament structure that play can get bogged down and that when you need to design a decent AvgCS to BLINDS tournament.

You can have a 30K start stak, 20 minute blinds and 1000 starters and I can still finish that tournament in a day.

I voted for the 2 day event, now I have reservations as to the best format.

In the past the big games were played on sunday, starting around 10am and finishing late that night.

I felt the 1st 2 sessions a bit of a carp shoot with the smallish start stack.

The late night finish on sunday create's another raft of problems for some players, those travelling back to regional areas, or an extra nights accomadation, those who need to be at work early am are just a couple of examples, some of these may not be planned for if you knocked out early that extra nights accom or the days leave from work become un-necessary.

If the semi was played on a Sat thats great for some, but that also has inherent problems also, like many players having sporting/work commitments, then depending on the venue they may have functions/night clubs and would be reluctant to commit to an all day event on a Sat.

So it becomes a bit of a merry go round your right and wrong which ever you day you select, so I am happy to accept that what ever Garth and his team choose, because its a hell of a job to try and keep everyone happy.

So vote is now whatever you decide is good for me.(Bugger I hate being so accommadating)

I would like to see an event where the final 20 or so players are not wresting with <20bb stacks. Every time 888pl events get down to the nitty gritty, the few left are playing a shortstack game, this always really annoys me.

HAHA GOLD Steve! But (first time for everything here), good post gundog. You can never keep anyone truly happy, but i guess most of us will just plan for that weekend off regardless knowing their will be lots of events to play irrespective of the structure of the main event.

the problem is, 10k stack and 20 min blinds wouldn't finish in a single day.

most of the ones i have played at have been 5k start stack 25 min blinds, and that still goes for 12 hours (including breaks).

and you could expect to have a slight increase in the number of players, because the challenge and foundation semi finals are combined this season.

so unless the tourney starts at 9am and goes to midnight, i dont think it is feasible to have a larger start stack than 5k unless we want to make it a turbo

Good point benny the cunt, that's why you are a mocca type thinking man and I'm a muggalatte and save the froth type of guy! LOL

However, I still prefer the single day event so there is at least one day left to share with the missus or family. Keep the 2 day event for the GF as a stand out to other finals.

Garth seems to feel that he can design a large stack fomat that will be enjoyable to us all and still finish at a reasonable time. So, I'm still for the one dayer and the big stack type format.

And in reply to Gundogs post ................................ WOW!!!!!!

Personally I would like a deep stacked 2 day event but if it were to be a one day event i would rather it be on a Saturday.
