Yeah, I know its long, but I am thinking postin a complete game might give better insights into both my and opponents 'image' and tendancies...
I will also post the next one I lose ;)
Last hand was a little loose on the call, often its a fold there at these blinds but I have quite a few games recorded against this opponent, and he usually starts to push a lot of hands when < 900 chips even in the 2nd or 3rd level...

Please any comments welcome, thats why i posted it of course.
Thanks in advance if you do read it and do comment on anything...

Probably the first thing i noticed is when you are in the small blind pre, you ONLY limp marginal hands and ONLY raise decent hands. Players will work this out pretty soon, and start raising any time you flat your SB, knowing you don't do this with a big hand (the hand where you had 44 might be a possible exception). Similarly with checking back your BB, you only do this with poor hands and only raise with big hands.

I know in early rounds when the blinds are small that you dont want to play too many large pots, but i would be getting more aggressive pre flop as a whole. Your opponent here seems to be pretty tight, especially in the early stages, so i would take more advantage of this.

And FWIW in the final hand you should be calling EVERY time given stack sizes imo. You could have as many as 14 outs, assuming he doesn't have any of them, so i call every time here.
Riskers gamble, experts calculate.

From what I've noticed, you check the turn back to often.

Checking the river here is bad, fire again, something like 280-340.

C/r is a better option here, its not like you have AK on this board and want to get stacks in, if you lead pot like this he will play any underpair/middle pair type hands passively.

Biggest turn lead in the history of poker. Q changes nothing, if he had you on the flop he has you on the turn. You do not want another diamond to peel off, as then you can't call, and you have the best hand like 85% of the time. Fire, fire, fire.

I check back this river.

If you don't want to get the final hand in on that flop quit poker.

Hope that helped.

Re: OK I bear my soul.... Complete HU tourney HH (Not text HH)

Postby AJG » Sat Apr 24, 2010 6:35 pm

Thanks for your comments guys...

Matt, you are correct that I played pretty straightforward preflop in this game, reading it now its not overly indicative of my usual play....
I just posted the 1st game after I had the idea of posting a whole HU SnG, before it disappeared into the HEM archive, probably 2 games later by the 25/50 level my SB stats were 65% raise/20% limp /10% 3bet... (for HU I dont use the std VPIP/PFR stats but SB Open Raise / SB Limp / BB Call open / 3bet for preflop stats)

Aaron, what is so bad about folding T3o to a SB raise?
Hand 19, do you mean flatting the flop, river or both?
Hand 21, yeah I have a hand with some showdown value, but I didnt feel he would call a bet there, min bet flop n turn: busted club flush draw me thinks, perhaps he had a T?? Is it not preferable to win via a fold, than at a showdown had I chk'ed?
That minraised flop hand, was a mistake from memory, I meant to 1/2pot raise...

Yep, in retrospect that river chk with a fullhouse was bad, obv hoping he would bluff at it, as I didnt think he would call but might possibly take a shot if I chked.

Certainly a few mistakes in there, some bigger than others...
Good to get others thoughts on them and how you'd have played differently...

A note about the way I choose to approach poker, and I have read alot of stuff that advocates against my own approach, when the blinds are relatively small, I am not always happy to get allin with a 5 or 10% edge. Especially here since I have dropped back to playing only $5, after a cashout and dumping a few buyins at 12/25 PLO, my BR cant really handle the $10 yet. And at the $5 i feel I have more than a 10% edge over most opponents, so i dont feel I need to take a small edge for all my chips.
Yes, i can preempt objections to this, such as "You should be prepared to bet 10% of your BR with a 10% edge" etc etc, but i just dont choose to play this way usually, although sometimes I will. Even objections to my thinking I have a decent edge...

So with that final hand, I did call, but against certain opponents it isnt neccessarily an insta-call imho. There are some there who will only shove with a made straight, set or the nut flush draw... But certainly agree its an easy call a lot of the time...

Thanks for your time Matt and Aaron... appreciated (and anyone else who takes a look and comments later) :)

Because its MONSTER!! A premium hand good for both shoving and calling all-ins from opponents.
