scrapping off FR/Reuys from online fixture

Here's a heads up kids:

1.) Next season I will be scrapping all FR/Rebuys from the online fixture.
2.) I will also be reducing the amount of freerolls offered daily and capping each freeroll at 100 players.
3.) Point multipliers for challenge events will be calculated based on $ entry fee.
4.) Special events will be offered with larger pts multipliers such as all Satellite events and larger buy in events.

Garth
Unsure if scrapping the FR/rebuys is a good idea. Looking at the AK 16:00 today over $100 is generated from rebuys alone.
I think would be good if you can schedule these FR/rebuys so they dont clash with venues ie finish prior to 19:00 and start after 23:00 bt scrapping maybe a bad idea. A large number of players only have one or two venues that are within driving distance of their homes, so participate in these events so that they can compete on the dream team leader board against players that have multiple venues near them.
I think 100 is too few players personally. On night that 888pl is not in my area I wouldn't mind getting on at 16:00, but even now it is hard, I would probably end up just playing on another site!
Larger mulitplers for larger buy in events is obviously a good idea

what if they changed the freeroll + rebuy to a 10c buyin plus rebuys for instance?

i also like the points multipliers according to buyin. $10 should be worth 10x a $1 tourney.

I personally like the straight buy in not rebuys, but these are scheduled and you have never had 150 players!
If you want to compete in a big field, then you need to appeal to the majority and not the minority!

The FR+Rebuy only attracts large because its a freeroll, almost 1/2 the field is trimmed down after the rebuy period has ended.

What is that telling you, how many of these players never rebuy, so whats the value of thses events both conflict with venues if you run deep in AK is still running early evening, MM runs in prime time.

When it was previously discussed I was in favor of turning both AK and MM into direct buyin+rebuy, I also applude capping the freerolls to 100 and reducing the number perday.

Then the freeroll junkies will either go somewhere else or put their hand in their pockets to play to make the DT
42.7 percent of all statistics are made up on the spot.

Yes but players who exclusively online freeroll players dont really contribute to 888pl in any way.

Correct me if im wrong here, but 888pl get incentives when 888pl players deposit (or play a certain amount) on 888 generally.

Would reducing the amount of freerolls achieve this? I believe it would.

So 888pl is better off having $2 games with 50 runners and limited freerolls, rather than 200 people playing freerolls and 20 people in CBI games.
Riskers gamble, experts calculate.

Well it looks like this has been written in the wrong thread - what's it got to do with the grand final??'

I have posted my response here where it belongs.

Anyway should I quote what you wrote to me last season to the effect that freerolls games are the main objective of 888pl. Well this seems to have changed dramatically.

In our area alone there are 3 freeroll games a week and 10 cash games. What happened to the freerolls being the main objective.

I am not knocking cash games but they aren't for everyone. Not all players can afford to play the amount of games or the amount of money that would be involved to play consistently all season for cash. A lot have enough trouble finding the money for their drink cards this many times a week. Most players have families that come first and poker a close second but they need to have a sense of responsibility and so does the organisation running these events.

I realise that 888pl is a business and it doesn't seem to have gone bankrupt by running freerolls. In fact 888pl has expanded and gained more players because of this fact. You have now expanded into NSW and Qld and at the same time reducing the number of players being able to play online freerolls. Doesn't make sense. These freerolls are what bring the players in in the first place and then they have a choice if they want to play the cash games. People should have a choice and you are taking that away from them.

Venue freerolls have now been ruined because of the cash game starting at second break. this means that players dont care how they play and if they go out they just go and play the cash game.

My suggestion (and this opinion goes for a majority in our area - so they have told me) that the cash game should be held first as players won't play stupid to go out, and the freeroll started at second break. This way both games will have some integrity. As it is most players are getting very despondent with the whole thing and as numbers show, especially on a Monday night, the numbers are dropping.

I agree that more cash games would be good, but not at the expense of the freerolls. Let us have a choice and not penalise players for not wanting or being able to play cash games.

Reducing the number of players in freeroll games is not going to force them to play cash games.

I am more for the state finals for the freerolls and venue freerolls and a state final for the challenge/cash games. This seemed to work well prevously.

Anyway this is just my opinion whether it counts or not.

They are NOT scrapping online freerolls. They are limiting the number, and scrapping the games that are freeroll to enter, but you can rebuy.

Harps your lucky you can play the AK game there are many who cannot play because of work (bugger work is the curse of the poker player)

Before you crack a wobbley......how can you run deep in AK and play a live venue, its now almost 7 SA time and there are 13 live runners in AK.
