Your spot on there Bacon,

1 Riverland venue provides hot bar snacks for the players at the 1st break, are there any others that do that kind of thing.
(On a sad note another venue in the region is dropping poker soon)

I for one only pick where I play based on what free food is on offer!!!
Please.
The free food is a bonus, but would you really stop playing if the food stopped?? The free food costs a venue. maybe if you brought a meal then you would get stamps and they wouldn't need to keep putting on the (free) food! You are eating their profits, literally!

I think promotions like this would really be targeted at the casual, one game a month player, as opposed to the regulars. Us regular players would attend our venue regardless of prices/stamping etc, but something like a meal card might encourage casual players to play more often.

Gundog isnt saying he ONLY plays there for the free food. read it again. he is saying that it is great that one venue in particular goes out of their way to provide something extra for players, and this keeps them coming back.

And Sunbury you mention the booklet again. I know you mentioned if you bring the wife and kiddies coming for a feed etc. But seriously how often does that happen? I really think a booklet idea would encourage binge drinking. That alone is serious enough. But it would also make 888PL look like the NPPL where the more beer you buy the more your start stack increases and continues to increase until the first break. Getting low on chips??? get hammered! That encourages irresponsible drinking, people drink driving, and worst of all horrible poker play! Not to mention the uncomfortable night most players have when they are surrounded by loud mouth, aggressive drunks. No sir a booklet will never work, sorry mate.
I like your enthusiasm, but this is just a poor idea I think.

i think this is wrong sunbury. in my case it is anyway.

i am not going to go to a venue JUST for the free food (in fact the venue that i play at doesn't have it), but it might sway my choice.

having a local that you always play at might be true for the country folk, but even where i live, i can play on pretty much every night of the week within a 30 min drive. obviously i dont do that, i only play once a week, but i will always go to a venue that wants to look after the poker players over one that doesnt

Seems like a lot of places give regulars extra stamps for their money or a slight discount from time to time anyway. That would be incentive enough for me.
We've how about links I would like to know I walk the line scrunches line at how the client Lawrence etc. etc.

And I would never want to hear, "Guys we're going to play poker, don't forget your stamp collections."

How does this encourage binge drinking??
In a way it stops binge drink because if you spend big (by buying two or three meals) then the following week you won't even need to drink alcohol you could stick to the soft drinks as you have stamped up cards already!!
I hate the people that buy 8 pots as it is a stamp a pot in some venues.
If these people could buy just a meal and 4 pots, but get a stamped card for future use (as they have spend more than the current amount needed for 2 stamped cards), then they won't need to buy 8 pots that week!

And the booklet idea mentioned previous I said venues should sell chip up booklets. No drinks required! How does that encourage binge drinking if you are buying chip up booklets for future use?

Currently someone can spend $50 - $70 in a venue by going straight there from work buying a good sized meal and a couple of drinks and only get the same number of cards as the person who is spending $16 on 8 $2 pots. Or the person how just plays freeroll. Doesn't buy any drinks.
Surely the person spending big should be encouraged more to come back?
By giving him a card that he could use at future events within that season, then at least he feels he is getting back more than the minimal paying player?
Some weeks the big spender might find himself short but still comes down as he has (prepaid) cards. If he loses them then it is his fault
