Its friday night, I'm just having a bit of fun, giving as good as I get etc... I thought it was fun - perhaps you didn't.

I get it - the pure maths dictate a (bad) call. I have had a few wines and am in no mood to breakdown the stats you have put forward right now. But I will before the weekend is done.

I think the poll result will be skewed in favour of Call because most in this forum (not all, but most) take your opinion as gospel.

I'm gonna put my lappy away for the night. Have a great (long) weekend everybody.
May all your pain be champagne!

No worries.

I was having fun and I enjoy discussing all poker strat. I just don't overly respect those who argue with me for the sake of arguing, or who refuse to look at both sides of the argument.

I didn't expect you to come up with an example immediately, you have plenty of time to try and find something.

As to the dig at the forum regulars, the reason why most people agree with me or take my advice "as gospek" as you put it is simply because I am educated, continue to educate myself, I listen to my betters and seniors and learn from them and attempt to impart this knowledge to others; I also support all my arguments with examples, logic and maths.

Don't ever make a comment like you have above, disrespecting me and others, simply because you are yet to prove your argument or even support it with any sort of logic or acknowledged theory/strat.

Interesting reading!

As much as I agree with Garth for most of it, it is still a "gamble" to call. The only thing I might put my hand up and say "hang on" about is the formula you used for your "winnings" based on 1000 hands. Aren't the percentages worked out on an "infinite" amount of hands (so 1000 would be a very small amount)? What I mean is if you actually had $100,000, and said to someone "let's put our $100,000 in together, you get AA, I get J6 and we run the board 1000 times", The guy with AA would surely walk away with the bigger chunk of the money?? Even if there was $200,000 sitting there before you both throw your $100,000 in on top, I don't think any of us would take the J6 side of the equation!

I realise you are already invested for half, but a fold here could also be seen as a $100 win for Mike....

"yeah, I stuffed up, but I'll keep my other $100 thanks...!"
What?, poker without the river??, you've just made my dreams come true!!!

if someone said "i will take AA every time, and you can have J6, we run it 1000 times, and i will give you 4:1 every time you win, "
would you take it?

the point is, 3:1 against aces isn't enough, but against a 5% range, it is enough.

and if you dont call when getting the correct odds, then there is a leak in your game

come on guys, pot odds are fundamental to the game, you really need to brush up on them if you dont think that this is a call
