How did seating arrangements work when there was excess demand for a table? Did people just have to wait?

There never was.

We had 3 tables, I think at the highest point we had 7 on each? There were another 2 tables in waiting, so even if we did hit 10 on each table, we had more waiting (would've got preeeeetty squishy though).

We had three 10 seater tables set up.

Initially people rocked up (before I did) and filled up the first table. When the table got to 9, and someone rocked up (Me, I think) we broke into 5 and 5.

People drew cards for tables, and then drew cards for seats.

These two tables filled up to around 8 and 8.

At one point I think we had some people rock up in groups so when it was at 21 or so, we drew again for tables.

One thing I would have liked was for people to be able to swap. The rules for this would need to be worked out but if there's one thing I would have liked, it would have been to be able to play against people who I didn't get a chance. And in 24 hours - you'd think that should be a realistic thing.

For example, someone should be able to stand up and say "SWAP". Someone else from another table can then take them up - and they swap seats. This mixes it up a bit. Maybe not exactly like that but something similar.

Topless waitresses would've been nice, too.

People also need to know how a 24 hour game is different.

Usually you wouldn't drop $200 - $300 at a cash game (at home) playing these stakes as time doesn't really permit. but in 90 minutes I was down $200 and over the night, Aaron was down almost $300

People need to understand this and realise their time will be limited if they bring a small amount. Not that there's anything wrong with bringing a small amount though.

With the amount of money being pushed around, it was SO important to know what everyone had behind them, as well as yourself. I must say, it's been some of the more pure poker I've had the chance of being involved in, at a home game. The bluffs were calculated, the raises were excellent and the thinking involved in some hands was exquisite. It was great seeing people rise up from one table to see a $200+ pot go down on another (or even a $100 pot early).

This is probably due to the mix of people there as well.

How about having cards with table and seat numbers on them an shuffling every 2 hours? What do people think about that? Obviously an argument here is that people want to spend more time with people to gain an edge. I guess you could have shuffling tables and non shuffling tables.

i agree with the swap bit

there was once where i wanted to swap, and i couldn't because noone wanted to swap with me.

so i think there could be a couple of options.

first is that if you say you want to swap, then you can. if noone wants to swap with you, then you draw cards and someone has to move. this way you can mix it up. maybe you can only swap once every hour or something.

another option is to completely redraw tables every 2 hours or something.

i was only there for 12 of the 24 hours, but i didn't play a single hand against todd, marto, aaron, scott, garth, russell, and probably a few more too.

personally, i think redrawing tables every 2 hours might be the way to go

2 hours is waaaaaay too short a time frame to be swapping i reckon, if there was going to be mandatory reshuffling of tables itd have to be every 6 hours i think, even then i think swapping should only be voluntary, and you should only be able swap tables once in say 6 hours,

Lol Trishan

I must admit tha. The only reason I wanted to swap tables is because the other one was a lot easier in my opinion.

At one stage I had a choice whether to sit in a table with Garth and scot and I took the option to sit on the other table

Maybe forced seating and rotations might be a good idea
