yeah i know what you mean dave
when i had that $320 pot when i had AA into heath's KK, when heath 5bet me, i tanked for a good 3 minutes or so.
part of it was deliberate tanking so that heath didn't put me on aces, but most of the time i was thinking ok, im pretty sure he has kings, but now what.
it was really good to have the time to run through it all.
probably the first time i have been 300bb (and later 800bb) deep in a live cash game, so you have lots of room to move

Re: 888PL 24h Cash Game
The changing of tables was fine imo. every 6-8 hours was perfect. the idea of such a long game is to play against people for really long periods of time, so 2 hours would be too short.
Yes it would have been good to play against everyone, but with so many numbers, this would be impossible - and it only gives people more motivation for the next game.
I like the swap idea where someone stands up and wants to swap. this may even keep a natural table rotation going where random draws aren't needed (but i liked it the way it was anyway).
Being so deep made everyone think long and hard about their decisions, which made for some great poker. (even if gordie did try to call the clock on me at one stage).
This was the longest session i have played to date (lasted the full 24hrs) and i enjoyed every minute of it. It got harder as the night got longer and colder, but i never got bored. i would be in for another game such as this in a heartbeat. (October long weekend aaron?)

What worked well?
What wasn't so great?
What improvements would you reccommend?
No alcohol to be consumed during the period. Non negotiable term of competing.
If I was in Dave's or Scott's shoes (which I was) for any longer than two hours I would have walked out and taken half the room with me and started my own game somewhere.
More comfortable chairs and climate control. That's it in terms of negatives.
In terms of positives, good group of people, had fun, well set up.
Consider dealers for ours as well as a few other smaller things.

jakovasaurus wrote:2 hours is waaaaaay too short a time frame to be swapping i reckon, if there was going to be mandatory reshuffling of tables itd have to be every 6 hours i think, even then i think swapping should only be voluntary, and you should only be able swap tables once in say 6 hours,
There is no way table swapping should be made mandatory, swapping should only occur if a seat becomes open at another table; offer the empty seat to current players, if nobody wants it then new player sits in there.
You don't get a choice at casino's and you can only swap when a seat opens up.

Re: 888PL 24h Cash Game
People had the option to bring their own chair. i did and im glad i did also.
i agree that drunk people are twice as annoying when you have to sit next to them for 8 hours, but lots of people drank and didn't act like tools.
obviously the heating was an issue, but that can be easily fixed.
I reckon more people will try for the 24hrs next time. there were only three this time (shaun, steve bee and myself).

He did. In no uncertain terms.
I thought there was going to a punch-on. I never know what to expect from northerners.

Re: 888PL 24h Cash Game
Never would have been a punch on, but annoyed macca did surface for a little while there. when im making a $70 decision and somebody who isn't even in the hand pipes up because they saw somebody call the clock on someone on telly once just tilted me.
was all good in the end though, we both apologised, i hold no grudges whatsoever
(plus, later i stacked him. ship the justice
